Join the Journey (JTJ) is a Christ-centered, compassion-in-action organization set on moving with God and communities the world over to alleviate poverty through empowerment in conjunction with efforts to build the local body of believers through compassion and discipleship.
We began a journey with the poor in January 2010 in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti that left more than 1.3 million people homeless, the majority of whom moved into tent camps. Broken by the plight of those living in these camps, the Lord led Join the Journey—initially launched as media organization whose mission was to share updates for others in ministry–to directly walk alongside one of these tent camps, Capvva. We spent just under four years with Capvva before the residents of that community were given grants by the UN’s International Organization for Migration to move out and the tent camp was officially closed in 2014. That journey with Capvva and the people who were in dire conditions molded and shaped us, teaching us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in broken situations and recognizing what it takes to ‘help without hurting.’ We continue to walk with many of the inhabitants of Capvva, now relocated to a rural outpost in the north called Titanyen, and have expanded our journey of empowerment and Gospel discipleship to the Philippines, Cameroon, and Peru.
